Lord Snow - riften

Persistent Vision

Lord Snow, a band that I have become quite acquainted with over the past three-or-so months, have put out their first bit of new music since last years Have You Heard of the High Elves album. The project could/can be bought for $4.20(ayyy), or more, on Lord Snow's Bandcamp.

As stated on Lord Snow's Instagram "riften (is) our first EP of new songs since we've been back together as the original four piece". 4-tracks; 8-minutes. The project opens with "Asbjorn Fire-Tamer" at stop-start-breakneck speed - whiplash over and over. riften sticks to you like an eight-armed-tentacle-like-velcro-strap; it wraps around your soul and pulls you down - way down. A labyrinth of jilted riffery and rhythm. Every corner cuts you, tires you down. Like being pecked at by a murder of crows, it takes a pound of flesh piece by smidgen piece, leaves you with little to work with other than a battered brain and scarred flesh.

Being repeatedly pulled out of a daydream; the feeling of the world falling under your feet; the breath being stripped from your lungs; the noose being tightened, the load being lightened; the sky pulsing in the brightest of blues; sight turning to TV static; lips turning to fuzz; the scent of singed mental states.

Lord Snow are the current masters of this particular winding, noisy, angsty, energy-riddled spheres of sonic of misery.
