Sprain - The Lamb As Effigy

The Flenser

A bone-chilling feast of sounds manifest themselves through The Lamb as Effigy; Sprain's sophomore project branches far and wide. The roots of the tree that is Sprain remain; the trunk, along with the limbs and leaves, has changed shape and colour. The rats that roam the sewers have come home to feast. Eternal damnation lays itself out like the yellow brick road.

'The Lamb As Effigy' starts off active - outlined grooves and structures are adhered to - and then slips through a slow-burning state - free from boundaries and escaping words; although one can try. Serenely churning and yearning, space itself opens up and devours said self; the tunnel of torment, the wormhole of woe. Brooding, burning beauty sits center to The Lamb As Effigy. An intertwining of the inside - stirrings of the soul. Entanglements of irreversible doing. An awareness that the worst is still to come. No time left. No time offered. Wasting away. Squandered. Thrown to the wolves. You have escaped death, this time. Next time won't be so lucky. A forever-fate awaits self-confessed fools. No end in sight. No purpose or point. The sirens no longer care for your company. You weep alone.

The man in the confession booth is just as troubled as you. Place your faith in tortured binds. Suffocating in sand, the hands that heal are smothered with blood. The tongue spits acidic rhetoric. The walls breathe awkward breathes; they close and contort on their own accord. A movie for the mind. A soundtrack for the blind. A bit indulgent, but anything that pushes the 100-minute mark will be to some degree. Things will take the time that they take. No more, no less. The first step is the steepest; the last mile is the longest.

I know nothing, that is the one thing I know.
