Sunforger s/t

The Cooked Raw Label

Sunforger, formally known as 'Mono No Aware', are a Montreal based Indie/Slacker Rock outfit consisting of Spencer Curtis on guitar, drums and vocals, Chris Hauer on guitar, and Piper Curtis on bass - with Josef McGuigan writing drum parts here and there. With a seeming DIY approach to band members, and also to the aesthetical world of the sounds on display, Sunforger feels like a free-flowing statement - a come-and-go, ebb-and-flow, somewhat tidal tale to be told. The dissonant jingle-jangle that the band cook up weaves gorgeous guitar entanglements. Delicately stitched, Sunforger come together to form a tight, though loose where need be, fit.

Sunforger awkwardly pull on the finer things. They catch the corner whenever possible - bumps and bruises are welcomed; an indecisive dose of character building never went astray. Stubbed toes are sought after just to feel something; to make sure life is still on the inside. Every day rundown; every day carved out. Out of what? Who knows. There's only so much to give - but some have more than others. Whatever that special something is, is up to debate - soul? spirit? under-the-radar mental decline? Unknowingly paying the piper. On some level knowing too well.

The soul reserves itself for those that tend to stick around. It watches the clock, any day now it will be liberated - the cage in which it sits was set upon itself. Clock watching slows things down to a slow vibration. A fog horn of wicked width. Eternally ringing out; forever on the brink of fading - though never quite getting there. Hanging on to the infinite horizon; falling off of the earth is an option, though it never presents itself. The fingers just won't loosen and let go. Live and let live in limbo.

Is what you want what you need? Or just a momentary filler to escape the momentary lapse in life? A temporary relief from the inevitable. A breathe of air where there seemed to be none - but there was, of course. There always was, and always is.
