Heartworms - A Comforting Notion EP

Heartworms shows off a cold and calloused aesthetic on her debut EP 'A Comforting Notion'. A cold shoulder to life and all of its infinite ways of presenting potential disappointments, A Comforting Notion pulls on the greyscale world of post-punk and cleverly synthesizes the results to stone-cold effect.

Two acts of the coldest nature come through in Heartworms work - Beth Gibbons and The Cure. The unimpressed aesthetic unquestionably comes through along with it. This world has nothing to give Heartworms other than disappointment and situations of sub-par potential. That's not to say that the EP doesn't have 'get up and get down' potential - these tracks are endlessly danceable among the frigid demeanour. You could call the Comforting Notion EP a taster of the harsh realities of Heartworms world. The aforementioned 'unimpressed by whats presented' aesthetic is on full show - detached from life. Uncaring of outcome. Untouched by taunts. Leave the outside to the outside; internal matters are for my eyes only.

Sharp and slicing tones meet the blunt and dry humour of Heartworms - akin to an angle-grinder on concrete. Acts of surface level effort aren't required in Heartworms despondent sphere; you get what you're given and you'll certainly take it.

Speedy Wunderground - synonymous with contemporary gold - is the gift that keeps on giving. A certainty for future successes - whatever that may be and wherever they may come - Heartworms gets off to a solid and seething start.
