Money s/t EP

Sunday Drive Records

Money. Sunday Drive Records.

Oklohoma Cities own 'Money' deliver their debut self-titled EP of dehydrated, derelict material. As stated on their Bandcamp, Money shares members with fellow OK band 'cursetheknife'.

Coming across like the aftermath of an atomic blast, the Money EP succumbs to wasteland oscillations - things seem to be born dead in these parts.

The Money EP is a hybrid of Alternative Metal and Shoegaze, which makes the project a ferocious affair. Whirlwinds of sawdust and sandpaper engulf the listeners psyche, withering away its ability to function. Residual memories become cascaded by dust and dirt. Borderlining on barren mental space, the Money EP burrows like drill bits into a cacophony of cavernous expanse. Nothing grows here, only dead weeds and dried up thoughts. Yesterdays dilemmas brought back into view through today’s similar lack of focus and care.

The Money EP revels in simplicity. Simplicity being the hardest thing to master. From time to time it sounds choc a bloc - packed to the brim. But on closer inspection a straight forward up and down, back and forth pattern is being adhered to. It's effective to an alarming degree. Hypnotic. Dizzying.

Some of the tones on this EP are as close to gigantic as they come. Wide and reverberant walls of sheer solid sound overthrow any thoughts of potential niceness. The soundscapes plea for sun and showers as the sandstorm refuses to subside. Breathing this EP in may just be carcinogenic.
