carter c - like all the suns EP. friends house records.

carter c's Lo-Fi lead approach to noise pop fulfills the shy end of the slacker spectrum. Seemingly removed from care - or maybe from caring too much - the sound he brings is one of certain disconnect and isolatory living. A young man on his one and only - the potential for stylistic choice and output are boundless.

Doug Martsch's musical baby; one of many. Not necessarily in a technical sense; more so in spirit. The vocal performance doesn't excel, however it adds character that wouldn't be offered by a confident and somewhat powerful performance. Some people provide enough personality by being themselves - it's beautiful to see, and hear. Sometimes taking a step away from the spotlight offers up room for other elements to take center stage. The musicianship on show and the knack for placement of said musicianship is stunning. Having an ear for where things can be added to expand the sound usually arrives after years - maybe decades - of sticking to the process. Carter C, at the age of 18(?!?), certainly has this ear. Some are most definitely more inclined to fall into their path at an earlier stage in life.

carter c represents up and coming talent - the road to proficiency. Showing a great understanding of dynamics and how to make the conventional interesting in the process - the smallest of details adds layers in the most discrete of ways. Big things lie ahead on his road; wherever it may lead. Slacker sentiment paves the way.
